2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser recalled in the UAE
February, 13th 2015
The newest installment in the ongoing saga of automotive recalls seems to involve none other than one of the UAE’s most adored SUV’s, the Toyota FJ Cruiser. In a statement released by the automaker, the intermediate shaft that connects the steering wheel to the steering rack, could have received an inadequate weld. Under some circumstances, the weld could separate, resulting in the loss of steering control and increasing the risk of a crash.
Although Toyota is not aware of any crashes, injuries or fatalities linked to the recall, local distributors Al Futtaim Motors said: “Following communication with Toyota Motor Corporation, we have started a Special Service Campaign on 75 Toyota FJ Cruiser 2014 MY in the UAE.” Al Futtaim also said it had begun contacting customers with affected models to book an appointment to replace the shaft, a process that takes about 90 minutes.
