The inaugural edition of the Abu Dhabi International Wood and Wood Machinery Show successfully culminated its three-day run at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) with total onsite sales amounting to over USD 2.2 million and expected sales of over USD 15 million.
According to organisers of the event, Abu Dhabi WoodShow 2011 helped in stirring in more growth for the UAE’s thriving wood industry, providing a strategic platform that has led to the creation of new partnerships and also as a launching pad for the roll-out of new products. The event, which was held in October end, showcased a wide range of wood products, import capabilities, manufacturing & processing potentials and trade mechanisms. Attendees for the event included furniture, decoration and wood companies, carpenters, interior designers, construction companies, wood product dealers and key distributors.
The show featured the products and services of exhibitors coming from 9 countries at ADNEC. The event also saw the launch of new wood products like Glulam beams, three-ply wood panels, cross-laminated timber from Binderholz GmbH and a new coating called Polycin from Perfect Coating Paints Trading. One of the highlights of the exhibition was the focus on Computer Numerical Control (CNC) and edge banding. CNC machines are programmed with the use of advance designed software that allows the creation of products that cannot be made by manual machines. This technology is being positioned to play a vital role in the Middle East’s booming construction segment.
The three-day event also featured specialized sections showcasing key products and services like clipboard and MDF, wood and timber flooring, veneer and surface treatments and furnishings. Leading companies that participated included German Softwood Network GmbH, Hamriyah Free Zone Authority, French Timber, Joubert Plywood, Simonin, Jotun Paints, Suba Tech, Interholco, Abalon Hardwood, Luli Group, Jaydeeman Sdn BHd, Al Nibras, Flexicam, Bagpress, Jindal Wood Products, Binderholz GmbH.
