Carillion awarded $124m BP Khazzan deal in Oman

Construction firm Carillion was awarded a contract worth $124m to build an operational base and accommodation complex for BP's Khazzan gas project.

The scope of the contract also includes the construction of a residential complex for 250 staff, and other infrastructure buildings in the Khazzan gas field 350km south-west of Muscat.

Work on the contract is expected to start in September 2015 and is scheduled for completion in mid 2017.

'We are delighted to have been selected by BP for this important contract, which I believe reflects our reputation for safely delivering high-quality," Richard Howson, chief executive officer at Carillion said.

The firm's pipeline of contracts rose to $62.5bn mid-2015, from $61.3bn at the end of December 2014.
